Wikipedia is not a link farm. RickK 09:08, Nov 27, 2004 (UTC)
- Keep: The point of Wikipedia is to make all human knowledge available freely to everyone. Brianjd 09:10, 2004 Nov 27 (UTC)
- From Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not: "Wikipedia is neither a "mirror" nor a repository of links, images, or media files.". RickK 09:20, Nov 27, 2004 (UTC)
- It's not just a list of links. It does have some information on it. Brianjd

- Delete. Only merits a handful of Google hits (most of which are Wikipedia mirrors). chocolateboy 09:37, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Delete, at least unless the/an author can say how it's notable. As for the notion above that W'pedia should make all human knowledge available freely to everyone, all human knowledge would presumably include, say, the exact prices and exact relative positions of the seventy-nine or whatever brands of tea stocked in the particular branch of the particular supermarket (Tōkyū Sutoa) that I happen to use. (Oh, and not just the tea.) That's "information" all right. The human knowledge of just which change was made when and by whom to this website happens to be known, but amazon.com is pretty notable -- why don't we track exactly when every book was listed as available (within 24 hours, within 4-6 days, etc.) and unavailable? The "all" in "all human knowledge" seems to be unattainable, and people can legitimately argue over where lines might be drawn. Hoary 10:31, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- How much is the tea, anyways? A friend of mine tells me she picked up some pretty cheap tea in Yokohama's Chinatown. Oh, yeah, Delete. --Calton 03:32, 28 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- "Imagine a world in which every single person on the planet is given free access to the sum of all human knowledge. That's what we're doing." -Jimmy Wales, July 2004
Thus, as I said above, Keep! Brianjd- Jimbo Wales has also said (paraphrase, can't find the quotation) Jimbo can edit pages such Wikipedia, which says Wikipedia "is, or aims to be, an encyclopedia and policy pages, such as Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not just like anyone else. Note that we have Wiktionary and Wikibooks and Wikiquotes. These project contains material that could be considered to be within the "sum of human knowledge" but which are, by well-established consensus, not suitable for Wikipedia. If you wish this article to be retained, your best course is to present evidence, convincing to mainstream Wikipedians, that Demosoftware.net is notable, as the word "notable" in understood by mainstream Wikipedians. If you are looking a site that aspires to include the "sum of human knowledge" in a literal sense—in their terms, a "knowledge base" rather than an "encyclopedia,"—you may wish to consider contributing your article to jnanabase. Regardless of the merits of your position, VfD is an ineffective forum for trying to debate Wikipedia policy. Dpbsmith (talk) 15:10, 28 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- P. S. It is not at all rare for VfD discussions to shift from "delete" to "keep" when evidence of notability really is presented. Dpbsmith (talk) 15:11, 28 Nov 2004 (UTC)

- It's just a site for testing software. There are loads of sites like that. Since this site has only been accessed 1385 times, I say Delete as non notable. Norman Rogers 12:19, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Delete, insignificant. Wikipedia is certainly not trying to be a repository of all human knowledge. My knowledge that my cat is called "Twiddles" does not belong here. Wyllium 13:11, 2004 Nov 27 (UTC)
- Delete. Non-notable and essentially a list of links. (And bless Wyllium and Hoary. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a "knowledge base," despite the efforts of some POV-pushers to mutate the vision into something else via "proof by repeated assertion."). - Delete. A website only a handful of people have accessed shouldn't be included in an encyclopedia. Mgm|(talk) 15:25, Nov 27, 2004 (UTC)

- Keep/Delete Thanks for your comments and review! A small group maintains demosoftware.net for the purpose of introducing Free Software to the mainstream as well as being a collective resource for open source developers worldwide. Admittedly, this site is in its infancy. However, if you carefully review the links and info provided, you will find a very useful and well-rounded summary of the open source software world, which, given its distributed nature, is sometimes hard to navigate and/or understand. More particularly, each of the softwares for demo is supplemented by a human-selected resource of links, of which we have not found an equal on the existing world wide web (and often is a better collection of documentation than what the developers themselves provide for their own software). If the spread of Free Software carries with it the notion and understanding that sharing and freedom are qualities fostering a more perfect world, we feel our site is not only notable, but crucial to the continuation of free software projects such as MediaWiki itself, and more broadly, the world of Free Software and all that it makes possible. All this said, if you feel our debut onto Wikipedia is premature, we would happily remove it ourselves and resubmit a request one year from now. Thank you again, kindly, for reviewing the site. May the mechanisms for positive change remain with us. Peace and respect to all. (demosoftware.net team)

- It means the group at demosoftware.net respects and values the decisions made by the Wikipedia team and sees their objective, informed anaylsis as one more fit to determine the eligibility of a site for Wikipedia. That said, demosoftware.net sees its relative presence and value on a worldwide scale to be equal, if not greater, than sites deemed worthy on Wikipedia such as Grouphug.us, Jehad.net, AmIAnnoying.com, The Subservient Chicken, General Mayhem, Dysfunctional Family Circus, and Heartless Bitches International, among others. In fact, we truly believe that demosoftware.net will foster development, collaboration, interest, and adoption of the very software that powers Wikipedia itself, the revered MediaWiki. Your kind reconsideration would undoubtedly promote the adoption of the GFDL and its praiseworthy cause. (demosoftware.net team)
- You are welcome to resubmit yourselves when your noble goals make a notable impact on the community. Unfortunately idiots are much more visible than decent people. A possible reason is that decent people are majority. My grandmother used to donate unused clothing to poor, but this doesn't qualify her to wikipedia, to my regret. Mikkalai 18:59, 28 Nov 2004 (UTC)

- Brianjd, please sign your posts.
- Yahoo test v Google Test.
- Alexa Test.
- The site's 7 Google hits (discounting dupes) make it at least an order of magnitude less notable than most puerile Google misspellings e.g. [1].
