When it's not boarding
[edit]In NHL hockey, and in many other leagues as well, players slam each other roughly into the boards on nearly every play. I think this article should do a far better job explaining what the difference is, so that someone who is not a hockey fan would understand.
Normally, I can easily spot the difference between an ordinary bodycheck and an instance of boarding - essentially, in fair hits the targeted players are prepared to defend themselves and get moved only a short distance, while boarding forces a potentially defenseless target through a much longer distance at high speed.
But a real hockey expert can and should give a much better explanation than I just did. TooManyFingers (talk) 22:25, 8 January 2023 (UTC)
