- Non-famous. Deus Ex 19:00, 29 Mar 2004 (UTC) + Also consider deleting other articles about Mathsworks - it looks like an employee of this company has created all the pages about the company for advertising. Deus Ex 19:12, 29 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Comment. Creators of a product that has had a Wikipedia article for more than two years, and generates close to 2 million hits--we've kept people with less impact. However, the current articles don't offer much beyond advertising, so the little content they have should probably be merged into the main MATLAB article, then deleted. (PS almost certainly created by an employee: "ping www.mathworks.com"="Pinging www.mathworks.com [144.212.100.10]"--new articles created by IP 144.212.109.236) Niteowlneils 20:16, 29 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Keep expanded articles. Jack has been quoted in print media from EE mags to the Boston Globe (and has been on the MIT page for almost 5 months, added with a couple other alums). Cleve seems important enuf in programming circles. Niteowlneils 03:27, 30 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Delete both. Nothing to merge, the information is already at MATLAB and MathWorks.Good detective work Niteowlneils, and thanks for reporting it. Andrewa 20:40, 29 Mar 2004 (UTC)- Keep, both now good stubs. Andrewa 13:22, 30 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- I added the links, and I work for The MathWorks. Jack is famous enough that someone listed him as a notable alumni on the MIT page. Cleve is one of the fathers of numerical computing. I beefed up his description. If you feel this is too much detail, feel free to delete these pages. I added them as a Wikipedia fan, not a MathWorks salesman. --Matthew Simoneau, matthew@mathworks.com.
- Keep. Everyking 23:31, 29 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Keep: significant achievement. Moler is a big wheel in the numerical computing world. Wile E. Heresiarch 04:14, 30 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Keep. No reason not to err on the side of inclusion, here. And, the fact that an article or set of articles is created by someone with a vested interest (and aren't they all at some level?) shouldn't be a factor in deciding to keep. Jgm 14:59, 30 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Keep: I am an avid user of Wikipedia. I wikified Simulink, although I did not write the article. I am not a MathWorks employee, although as a controls person I could not do my job without their product. I have been in correspondence with The MathWorks about starting a Matlab Wiki. In my e-mails, I encouraged them to look at Wikipedia and specifically referred some of them to the article on MathWorks (now The MathWorks) in the hope that they would add information. I don't know if Matthew got my e-mail or if it is coincidental that he did a bunch of edits recently. Anybody who thinks the information is POV can neutralize it. For better or for worse, Matlab is a part of modern engineering and The MathWorks and Cleve Moler will go down in history for their parts.
- Keep Cleve Moler. He is pretty famous. He's not Bill Gates, but Matlab is used by far fewer people than Windows is.
- I'm indifferent to Jack Little.
- Finally, I don't see the point to merging the minor articles yet. If they don't grow over a period of months or years, then they should be culled, but for now it is convenient to have separate articles for The MathWorks, Simulink, and Matlab -- I make links to all three, not just from Wikipedia but also from Wikibooks. -rs2 17:02, 30 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Keep. I have been a subscriber of Cleve's "math num digest" for a decade or so. His name must be known to at least 10,000 people, possibly many, many more. How many people can identify Yavanna?
- I have made Jack Little into a disamb page for John N. Little (MathWorks) and Little Jack Little (songwriter). The VfD boilerplate was moved to the former. Jorge Stolfi 03:06, 31 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Keep. MATLAB is an important piece of software, a significant accomplishment itself. It sounds like each has done at least something else notable. Two notable facts about one person = worthy of an article. Isomorphic 21:35, 31 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- The deletion debate seems to have died down a long time ago, but for my two cents, this is a clear Keep. --Saforrest 18:59, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

Removing tag
[edit]As far as I can tell, since the tag was added in 2013, the page has been adequately sourced. Just added another source too. Any objection to removing this tag? Likeanechointheforest (talk) 04:35, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
