Moved from "Lee Salter Overman" to "Lee Slater Overman". He was the son of William H. Overman and his wife, Mary E. Slater, and his middle name is his mother's maiden name. This error has been around for about a year, and WIkipedia clones have promulgated it wide and far, so that a websearch reveals about equal numbers for each variation. The best sources (his Congressional Biography, and his collected papers, North Carolina, the Old North State and the new. Henderson, Archibald,. Chicago. Lewis Publishing Co.. 1983.) give "Slater", not "Salter". Perhaps a better solution would be to park this at "Lee S. Overman"? - Nunh-huh 18:14, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Images

[edit]

The US Federal government has plenty of free images that could be incorporated into this article if anybody wants to take the time. Tons of images. Bsimmons666 (talk) 22:06, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot for pointing that out. I have uploaded some of them to Commons. - Darwinek (talk) 16:55, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Common name

[edit]

Regarding the move of this page, Lee S. Overman (63%) and Lee Overman (27%) are the only iterations of Overman's name that constitute over 5% of references to him on newspapers.com. Star Garnet (talk) 04:50, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
