Atari teenage riot
[edit]What relationship (if any) does this band have to Atari Teenage Riot? Did they inspire the name? Mr. Jones 09:27, 17 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Been wondering the same myself. I left a similar question on the Atari Teenage Riot Wikipedia article. Also I deleted your links here cause they no longer worked. VarunRajendran
- Nope, the bands have no relationship whatsoever, although the Ataris' song Teenage Riot references the confusion between the two bands. JaymzSpyhunter 04:56, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Relationship with Atari
[edit]Does anyone know the band's relationship with the Atari game company? They are fairly high-profile for their genre, so it seems unlikely to me that the company is oblivious to their existence. So what's going on? Did the band get permission to use the name and logo? Were those mysteriously left uncopyrighted? Is there a low-profile lawsuit happening? I've always wondered about this, and hopefully we Wikipedians can find something out on the issue. --BDD 18:27, 21 May 2005 (UTC)
- There was a lawsuit in the early 00's and it was found that they weren't infringing on any trademarks. The Ataris do not use any logos from Atari. JaymzSpyhunter 04:56, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
-- Atari means "Winner" in Japanese, so I've always assumed that thats what they named their band after.
Group photo
[edit]Can someone please upload a new photo of the group here and put it in the correct spot? You can find it at the Ataris' website. JaymzSpyhunter 04:56, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Blue skies cover.jpg
[edit]Image:Blue skies cover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:28, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Members
[edit]Bob Hoag and Angus Cooke have been removed from the members section on the bands MySpace.
Should they not be moved into former members?
Dustin Phillips is currently playing drums on their Australian tour (May-June 2016) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.82.37.231 (talk) 16:56, 27 May 2016 (UTC)
Current members in infobox don't match the current members in the members section. Brian Bonsall listed in both current and past, wrong instrument in current. Missing Danny Duke. Submitted some corrections to match better. Unclear if Mike Davenport is back in the lineup or not (he is in recent performance footage from April 11 on Brian Bonsall's Instagram) Mattkickbox (talk) 04:44, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
New EP
[edit]I saw The Ataris back in June and they were selling what they called a "Limited Edition Tour EP" out of their van. It was a CD-R in a little paper sleeve with artwork on it and 7 songs on it. Should an entry be added for this? DX927 (talk) 06:13, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
Is this band note-worthy enough to even be in Wikipedia?
[edit]This is the longest bio I've ever seen for a band that has never done anything but release self-produced and released records, outside of one one a tiny regional label. This looks like a fan site page for a small regional bar band.
I question whether this band should even be included in Wikipedia. Is it Wikipedia's policy to have an extensive bio of every unsigned, semi-professional band in the country? This Kris Roe individual also has a long bio page for himself in which he expounds on song writing, guitar playing and teh pressures of being in a band. I think this is all a plant by either fans or the band themselves to garner credibility, publicity and noteriety.
Any unsigned band with zero hit songs or albums, no appearances at large festivals nor tours with signed bands should not be included here, in my opinion. If they are, I know about 20 local Tampa bands who have done as much if not more than this band who ought to write up their own adoring fanzine type page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.100.9.83 (talk) 05:12, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- They were on Columbia records, which is not "a tiny regional label", it has Beyoncé and David Bowie on it, among others.
I don't think that they are on a label at the minute, though recently they were on Sanctuary records which is the label for Guns 'n' Roses and Elton John.
I could go on about your claim they have had "zero hit songs or albums" ("so long, astoria" went Gold in the USA) or large festivals (I think they headlined the Warped tour one year. They also played at the Reading/Leeds festivals and "Give it a Name" in the UK and Fuji Rock in Japan.), but I think that you're just looking for an arguement. Necron5555 (talk) 19:23, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Not to mention that their cover of "The Boys of Summer" was a pretty big hit in 2003. Where were you? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.229.65.171 (talk) 22:32, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
