[edit]I saw a band called the Blue Meanies supporting Citizen Fish many years ago- I even bought a tape by them which I think I've still got somewhere... Is this the same band? They were great BTW (very Ska influenced sound IIRC) quercus robur
- I'm editing some of the discography to coincide with both my personal knowledge and more importantly information from the band's myspace page. Vvibbert (talk) 22:27, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
- I've divided the discography into four sections: Albums, Vinyl, Compilations, and Other. I don't really like the Other category being in there. It's sole content consists of a casette I've never heard of, the band doesn't mention on their site, it's not mentioned on any fan sites. I'm sure it exists but I think it's something that unless you're in the band or dating a member you wouldn't have and is more of a rarity/bootleg than part of the discography. Unless someone has some kind of reference for it I propose it's deletion along with the other section head. I'd also like to see some kind of references for the vinyl as well, but they did press a lot of stuff (I have one of the 8").Vvibbert (talk) 23:24, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
Lengthy discography? sound remains consistent? Jay Vance? "Other"?
[edit]1) This single would be the start of a lengthy discography and revolving lineup.
This is a band that was around for, lets say a decade. They put out three albums, two live albums and two EPs. Is this really a lengthy discography?
2) Although their personnel was continually changing, The Meanies' sound would remain consistent
Not very true, in my opinion. Peace Love Groove is EXTREMELY different from their later heavier sounds, and The Post Wave is a completely different sound for everything before (as mentioned again later in the article).
3) Mention of Members.
While there are 7 members mentioned in the lineup discussion (none of whom have wiki pages), I would think there should be mention of their bass player, Jay Vance (1989 - 1996?), who now performs under the name Captured! By Robots, and has a wiki page.
- We now have this "This single would be the start of a lengthy discography and revolving line-up including Jay Vance, a bass player" which is completely weird: who is this guy? why is he being singled out of a revolving line-up? Why now in the article? Also, Jay Vance's page does not exist, I expect it was removed for not being noteworthy enough. I will move this mention of him to a later part of the article, where it fits the context better. I am axx (talk) 20:19, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
4) "Other" Cassette
This sounds like bunk. I saw them a lot during that period and they never had any tapes. It is possible this was an unlicensed thing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.79.50.182 (talk) 21:13, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
- I'm totally in agreement that Peace Love Groove does not sound much like the other stuff. There is a much heavier funk influence with the ska and punk. And to be honest, there really isn't much punk sound on that album. Sweetdudejim (talk) 02:09, 26 July 2023 (UTC)
