Protected Page status

Given the high incidences of vandalism on this page, solely because of the word-association with the Democratic Party of the United States, I've recommended semi-protection. The vandalism-reverting dance is getting ridiculous. Flying Spaghetti Monster-willing, it won't be necessary to ask for full-protection status. --Micahbrwn 21:37, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Definition

This page should include a definition on what "democratic party" implies. E.g., under Norway, Venstre is listed, but why not "Demokratene" ("the democrats")?

This list is useless unless one can read a clear and precise definition on why the parties are listed here.

I have removed all parties without the word "democrat" or "democratic" in the name, and clarified this in the lede. This page is useful if you're looking for a party called "Democratic Party" or some simple variation thereof. There's no way it can be allowed to express an opinion on whether a given party is democratic, with a small d -- just for a simple example, the omission of the US Republican Party would then be a POV statement. --Trovatore 22:23, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Australian Liberty & Democracy Party

Formally the Liberal Democratic Party. I've changed their link in the Lib/Dem disamb/list-page, but I'm not sure whether parties with Democra-something in their names are intended for this page. Well, that's one prob, the other is that I'm not entirely sure of the coding for table entries. So... any help -- PaulxSA 13:40, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Hmmm, they are listed (under old name. I'd change it but the server's doing... something servery) in Liberal Party disamb page. So I assume partial-name parties are okay here. I'll drop the name in here next to the Australian Democrats, can someone who knows what they're doing give them their own line (both here and on Liberal Party page) with the note "Libertarian" which is how they self-identify. -- PaulxSA 13:49, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

I'd like to understand why the Liberal Democrats and Democratic Labor Party were removed from this disambiguation page. The Australian Democrats do NOT have a monopoly on the term! If there are no objections within the next 24hrs, I'll re-add them. In all fairness they don't deserve to be marginalised the week before a federal election. Why a table rather than standard looking disamb page?

This isn't "List of worldwide Democratic Parties". It's a disambiguation page. Can't it simply look like one? The table format just takes up space. Is there any real advantage to it? Hult041956 (talk) 23:55, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Why, is there a limit on space? A disambig page lists articles that incorporate the ambiguous word. Whether it's in table format or not shouldn't matter. fishhead64 (talk) 14:46, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Purpose of this page

I would like to clarify the purpose of this page. It is supposed to be a disambiguation page for political parties with "Democratic", "Democrat". "Democracy" etc There is no stipulation as to the politic values, political objectives or their place on a left-right political continuum, or any kind of economic policy that espoused by any of the said parties named. As a result, this page should expand organically to "catch" as many parties that can be gathered on this disambiguation page.

Furthermore, to the persons or people who continue to remove the Liberal Democrats and the Democratic Labor Party from the Australian section: by removing these parties from that section within this document you are in fact reducing the usefulness of a page that could well aid/teach/explain to people the difference between the Australian Democratics, the Liberal Democrats and the Democratic Labor Party.No one party has a monopoly on that term. Where is Democratic Party (United States) in this list? And if the issue keeping it off is that the name doesn't have to be translated, then why are the various UK, Australia, and New Zealand parties listed here? --Khajidha (talk) 11:36, 27 April 2017 (UTC)
