Hello,

I am Vonkje -- In Dutch, the word approximates the English word "Sparky" as in the character "Sparky-the-Penguin" in the comic strip "This Modern World" by Tom Tomorrow (aka Dan Perkins). I joined in April 2005.

Quality Control Issues

[edit]

If there were four policies to improve the quality of Wikipedia entries they might be:

  • In addition to banning anonymous edits, use also real names.
  • Prohibit all self-citation -- At least one notable computer scientist stubbornly insisted on citing his own work. This introduced bias into articles in areas like concurrency that favored the actor model. The policy on No Original Research needs to be strengthened here, lest I bore you with self-cites of my own published work in finite models and reliability.
  • Protect articles in mathematics and the sciences from the trolls.

Please post your comments to my talk (A.K.A. Discussion) page.
